Project Description:
Hello,We need help developing an iOS app that is essentially a web browser with barcode scanning capabilities (Code 39, Code 128, UPC, EAN, QR).
When the app opens we would like a splash screen displaying a logo(provided by us) for a couple seconds and then move to the web browser and load a specific URL. This app will only be used for a single website so there is no need for an address bar. We would like to keep as much of the screen available to the web browser feature as possible so the only interface will be a bar along the bottom that has a home icon, back button, forward button, scanning icon and a profile icon.
When the scanning icon is selected, launch the scanning feature that will allow user to use their devices camera to scan a barcode. Provide icon to turn on/off built in light (those devices that support it) and cancel if needed. Upon successful decode, send data to a url provided by us (GET or POST). It would also be nice to allow user to manually type in the barcode values and submit if unable to decode for whatever reason.
The integrated web browser needs to support HTML5, CSS, https, cookies, javascript, etc just like Safari.
While we will be initially developing this app and rolling out for iOS users, we would also like an Andriod equivalent to follow shortly afterwards. Not a requirement but it would be nice to have the same developer help with both.
This app will be used by our customer base in quite a few different warehouse environments so the scan engine is very important and must do a good job at decoding barcodes. I have downloaded and tested decoding barcodes using the app ZBar with very good results. They provide an open source ZBar library specifically for the iPhone.
If you have developed any barcode scanning apps previously and can send me an example so I can test the scanning capabilities that would be a big plus.
PM me with any questions.
