Wasp Barcode Technologies came in to SystemID to train our sales team on January 27, 2012. Armed with lunch and brand new products to be revealed, the training began promptly at 11 a.m.
Lynn Lee, Wasp Director of Hardware Development, is all smiles about their new WWS450 cordless 2D scanner and the antimicrobial healthcare version, WWS450H.
Brad Vinson, Channel Account Manager, and Lynn Lee, Director of Hardware Development, from Wasp gave the training. They started with a brand new scanner that was just released: the WWS450 cordless 2D scanner. The first of its kind in the Wasp scanner family and it does not disappoint.
The WWS450 has a Bluetooth radio with a working range over 250ft., batch mode capabilities, a 4ft drop spec., and an IP30 seal rating. All of this combined with an aggressive 2D scan engine and you have got yourself a very nice scanner. It even has a healthcare model with antimicrobial protection.
All of these features are great, but the next thing I am going to tell you may knock your socks off…It has open Bluetooth capabilities. That means it works with iPads and Android tablets via Bluetooth. This has been tested and confirmed. This is huge news in the scanning world!
“Ok, all that sounds great,” you are probably saying to yourself, “but what about the price?” Try under $700. I am telling you folks this is one hot little scanner!
Lynn Lee, Director of Hardware Development, talks about the new DT10 mobile computer. This small, batch device is ideal for light industrial inventory tracking. Soon, Wasp will have options for 2D scanning and WLAN.
Next up was Wasp’s brand-spankin’ new mobile computer: the DT10 economy mobile computer. This mobile device is also a first for Wasp as it has optional 2D, 802.11 wireless, and cellular features. Those optional functions come on top of a superior scan engine, 256MB flash memory, a Windows CE 5.0 operating system, and an IP54 seal rating.
Pretty impressive. And you get the base model for under $950. That’s right: a highly functional, sleek, slim yet durable mobile computer for about $900 bucks.
The training ended at about 1 p.m. with our bellies stuffed and our minds racing, almost as fast as our feet. We wanted to get on the phones and tell our customers what we had learned about these exciting new products.
For years, our sales team has been trained by the top barcode equipment manufacturers several times a month. We just decided to start blogging about them. I hope you look forward to reading about them.
I have a great idea; why don’t you, the loyal readers let me know what you would most like to learn about. Maybe we could set up a training and blog about what we learned? Leave a comment and let me know.
